Amos 7:7-8

Understanding the plumbline helps to live a deeper and fuller Christian life.

1. The presence of a standard.

God molds us to match the standard of the plumbline.

The Holy Spirit is the greater force that establishes a plumbline.

The presence of a plumbline is not for condemnation but for mercy. When you know your sins and repent He is faithful to forgive us. {I John 1:9}

2. A reference to build on.

Walk the steps. Don't ignore God's direction in establishing a spiritual life.

Practice God's standard of holiness and righteousness in your life. Pass the standard and you'll remain spiritually healthy.

3. The Bible is the plumbline for the Christian life. {2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:105}

It is also a source of constant reference and encouragement.

Meditate on the word of God day and night.

Remember, we are most vulnerable when we are most comfortable.
