Key Scripture; 1 Samuel 4.12-22 ; Matthew 1.18-23

The ark of God was a representation of God's presence in Israel.

The Israelites carried the ark to the battle field for they believed they will be victorious in war.

But God had departed from them when they began falling into sin.

1 Samuel 4:21 Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel!" because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband.

Matthew 1.23; we consider the birth of Jesus at a time when the glory had departed is being returned back to Israel.

Matthew 1:23 [ "Behold,] [ the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,"] which is translated, "God with us."

Jesus came to correct the status in our lives. The glory had departed but He is still God with us.

It could be rather difficult right now but do not name your future depending on your present time.

Choose to turn to the Lord whole heartedly and pursue God with all that you have.

May the glory of God be restored to your situation.

1. God's plan.

Both Elizabeth and Zacharias were living a life approved of God having come from a lineage that is also approved of God.

But Elizabeth was barren and both were well advanced in years.

V.18 God can override how things are done because He has said so!

2. God's time.

There was a plan before the birth of Jesus Christ as well as John the Baptist.

There is a set time for things to happen even while it is still in plan.

Psalms 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:

3. God's way.

His plans for you are still solid, yet still in plan and will surely come to pass in time in His way.

Thrive and grow in your place but still remember He has a plan for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

He is faithful to carry you to the place He wants to take you.

Whatever is placed in your hand, God has a solid plan for it.

He intends to bless you more than you are willing to believe and pray about it.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible."

It's a time of giving and receiving gifts.

Matthew 1; highlights the family tree of Jesus.

1. Jesus is not the son of Adam.

His family started way back with Faith and not the deeds of men.

^1 Cor 15.22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Coming to Christ is by choice.

2. The miracles of Jesus' family tree.

Tamar; she lived a godly life. She disguised herself but, There was a purpose for something to be revealed of the plans of God.

^She represented the grace of something unique.

Rahab; she was saved by God, By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. {Heb 11.31}

Ruth; she committed herself and made some declarations. When you believe in God, He will find a way to bless you.

^The gospel is for everyone, no matter who you are.

^Inactivity

^Atmosphere

Signs of sleeping

^Inactivity

^Insensible to things around you.

Why should we be awake?

1. Harvest is plentiful.

2. The enemy isn't sleeping.

3. We are living in perilous times-men will be lovers of money and themselves rather than lovers of God.

4. We are also watchmen.

Mungu wetu anataka tujifunze kumtegemea kila wakati [Our God wants us to learn to trust in Him].  When life’s situations do not go as planned, God wants us to learn to trust in Him.  He knows what lies ahead and nothing gets Him by surprise  Jeremiah 17:7 – 8 (NLT) 2. Mungu wetu anasikia malalamiko na manung’uniko yetu [Our God hears our complaining and our murmuring].  The Israelites complained and murmured a lot against the Lord and against Moses.  Deuteronomy 1:27  God is listening for our praise, but, instead, He hears our complaints. 3. Kuthamini mapendeleo tuliyopewa [To appreciate privileges bestowed on us]  Luke 17:14 – 19 (KJV) Conclusion  We are called to be thankful people, to recognize and express appreciation for the benefits that we have received from God and others.  We are all debtors, and we repay those debts with grateful hearts and words of thanksgiving.  It is not enough to feel gratitude in our hearts. That gratitude must be communicated to those to whom we are indebted.

There is something that requires you to be alert with God.

When you come out of a storm, prepare yourself for another.

Sin chokes the channels God uses. Dealing with sin unblocks the channel.

1. Victory is promised.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God [is] with you wherever you go."

God is reminding them of the basis of their victory.

No storms lasts forever. Psalms 37:23 The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.

2. Victory is pursued.

God always has a plan. Ask him to give you the strategy to go forth.

Listen and heed to the instructions given.

He is the God of second chances.

3. Victory preserved.

Key Scripture: Genesis 8.22

As long as the earth exist, we are assured there will be planting and harvest; winter and summer, cold and heat; night and day.

As long as we live, times and seasons will exist. It is for us to position ourselves and be anchored in Christ Jesus.

Times and seasons are inevitable

The times of one seasons affect one's behavior and outcome in the next season.

Therefore be careful how you walk because the days are evil. Be wise, humble, and make the best of every opportunity.

{Genesis 41.1-36}

Times shall surely happen to us. We need to be careful what we do during times of prosperity and times of famine.

Make use of every opportunity! There is something we can always do to carry us through the disadvantaged times. SAVE!

Key Scripture; Isa 43.2 ; 2 Pet 1.12-13

Resilience is the ability of an object to return to form after it has been bent, stretched or compressed.

Surprises are the new normal, resilience is the new skill.

ABC of building resilience;

1. Adapt better to life changing events

2. Bounce back from hardship and tragedy

3. Cope with turbulent times present and in the future.

Key factors in resilience;

Healthy relationships

Ability to create and execute realistic plans for the future.

Ability to have healthy self confidence.

Find positives in difficult situations.

Challenges of resilience

a. The learning process requires something difficult to happen to us.

b. Choose to overcome the setback. You may lose your focus in a storm. { 2 Kings 4.1-8}

Whatever you may consider as nothing or a ser down, God can use it to make a difference in/for you. {Ruth 4.15-17}

The anointing you honor will serve and cover you in time of storms.

How to develop resilience;

1. Decide to Faith forward.

2. Commit to growth.

3. Recognize the importance of adding value to others.

4. Find strength beyond yourself.
